Surrounded by local parks and located near the ocean, Parkland Secondary School's attractive campus serves students from the scenic residential areas of North Saanich Municipality and the beautiful town of “Sidney by the Sea”. A short drive from downtown Victoria, Parkland is the closest school to the Vancouver ferry terminal and the Victoria International Airport.
Academic success is an important focus at Parkland so many students qualify for major Universities all across North America. Other students use their Parkland graduation for entrance into Colleges or Technical Training Programs that meet their post-secondary goals.
To supplement their academic performance, students may choose from Parkland’s traditional elective strengths in visual and performing arts, technical education, physical education and career preparation programs.
Parkland has a long history of outdoor education offering experiences in wilderness camping, backpacking and canoeing trips to famous destinations on Vancouver Island.
Students are also attracted to Parkland for its four unique Programs of Choice, not available at other schools in the District – the Ice Hockey Academy, the Judo Academy the Sailing Academy and the Marine Institute. These specialty programs allow students to balance their specific interests with regular school work.
Parkland has a strong tradition of school sports teams and clubs with particular emphasis on volleyball, basketball, soccer and rowing.
